The Power of Pause

The Power of Pause by Nance Guilmartin is a great book.  It’s a quick read and provides key fundamentals on how to make better business decisions by not feeling compelled to instantly respond to sensitive situations.  This applies to professionals regardless of their positions within their companies.

Oftentimes we are unclear about the roots of a conflict, misunderstanding or lack of action.  We can often misinterpret situations. Nance suggests getting curious by exploring situations before acting.  It’s about really listening and then responding.  Oftentimes by listening and asking – what don’t I know I don’t know? – can be a life saver in communicating more effectively.

We all know that communication is the key to success.
